Still Here

by Rebecca Besser I walk in silence, where there once was, laughter and friendship. My heart is bound, with memories gone by, knowing that I miss you. I’ve locked my soul, inside a dark little box, trying to forget how I fell. Tomorrow is the same, another day battling, wondering if you’ve forgotten. Once I existed to you, you could see the real me, but you forget I’m still here.

I love this, Rebecca. "I've locked my soul inside a dark little box." Very emotional line. Very human. We all lock our truest selves away where no one can see. You did a great job expressing that.

A lonely existence is an emotional and sad one. Your poem speaks to this perfectly.

Beautiful, beautiful words, Rebecca.
