For Vernon

by
Jeanne Baldwin

I stand afar and see a charm of red and green

A charm of a barn in a calming scene …

Then I wander around Red Robin Hood’s barn.

But you are not here wherever I look,

Not in the stalls, not down by the brook.

You’re not here, not writing your book.

I stand at the red barn which sits on the green

Calling to you … please come to me.

But you are not here and how could you be?

You’re nowhere else in Eternity,

Only in my memory…

Unless you are now the Charm of the Barn

The Charm of the Red Barn which sits on the Green.

Beautiful Jeanne! It could have been written for the Pic 1k picture from May.
I love the poetry and spiritual connotation of his/her charm living in the barn.
Great job!

Thank you so much, Cynthia! Actually it was written for May Pic1K, but didn't make it in time. So it was published in the daily instead! We were just in Hawaii in Jan 2010. Speaking about the after-life,he joked that he would be re-incarnated > unfortunately we didn't ask as what. He had a massive stroke in April and was gone in a week. Devastation. So, here he is > The Red Barn on the Green. Hope he likes it... being a barn ;o) Hey, he's got a brook! Thanks Again!

Oh, so sorry for your loss, Jeanne. What a beautiful way to memorialize him.
